During the cryolipolysis treatment in which we freeze your fat we first mark the areas that will be treated. We then place the applicator on the area to be treated. Through a strong vacuum the skin is sucked into the applicator after which the cooling begins and the fat cells will freeze. Cooling takes 35 minutes and is done at a temperature of -11 degrees Celsius. After the cooling the treated area is massaged intensively for two minutes and after this your own body does the rest of the work. For 8 to 12 weeks after the treatment the fat cells are naturally cleared and disposed by your body, this happens because your body now sees these fat cells as abnormal and so they die off.
When we freeze your fat the results of the treatment will be visible after about 8 weeks. Due to the apoptosis process set in motion during the treatment the fat cells in the treated area die off. Your body naturally clears these out and disposes them. CoolSculpting differs in this from liposuction where fat cells are removed in a non-natural way. Once removed fat cells in the CoolSculpting treatment do not return! The apoptosis process continues up to 16 weeks after the treatment, since this process is gradual your skin has the opportunity to adapt to the new situation and thus slowly move back along with it.
